H&M gets Versace Collaboration

Before I embark on this exciting fashion news I would like to emphasise how I am writing this post from my bed, in which I am snuggled in my duvet with a box of tissues. It is JUNE for goodness sake and I am so cold and sneezy (although this is most probably due to hayfever and dust due to the fact i've been clearing out my room) that I am in bed at 9pm. I should be outside basking in what's left of the sunlight with an ice cold pimms!... Right rant over!

Anyway, what I am supposed to be writing about is in fact today's news that H&M have just signed designer Donatella Versace to design a collection with them. Versace will join a long list of other designers such as Jimmy Choo and Lanvin who have previously released limited collections with the high street chain. The line is not to be released until November so we have a bit of a wait, yet I am sure there will be just as much hype about Donatella's line as there was about the other collaborations; it's sure to be worth the wait.

In terms of the content of the collection Versace is said to be designing both a Women's and Men's collection as well as a homeware line. So not only will you be able to dress yourself in the collection; you will be able to deck your home in it too! It has been suggested that we will see alot of studs (see the cheeky preview above) and bright colours in the women's line and tailoring and bling in the men's and the home collection? Well that remains to be seen, but I am 100% certain that in November the queue's outside H&M's up and down the UK are going to be substantially long! Better get your shopping shoes at the ready, 'cos Versace's coming to town...

Up Up and Away for Mulberry

It seems that Mulberry is on a bit of a role recently, producing bags such as the Alexa, Tillie and Edie as well as a book to celebrate their 40th Birthday. Therefore, it is no surprise to hear that Mulberry's pretax profits are up by 358% to £23.3m up from the previous £5.1m. This increase is only set to increase over the next year, so watch out Mulberry are about!

As well as Mulberry's gorgeous bags, their Womenswear collection should not be forgotton as although they may not be as daring as some other designer's collections, Mulberry do produce some lovely pieces. Here are some images from their new S/S 2012 collection.

Mulberry Woofa. CHECK!

I love this little dress, and the neutral jacket and short suit with the pop of pink is bang on with the bright colour trend at the moment. Smart, but very fashionable.

This week I love...

BEING... on my summer holidays! Yes, another year has gone (more like flown) by although, I now find myself with my THIRD year of university awaiting me. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN???!! It feels like only yesterday that I was just a wee fresher moving down to Winchester and into halls, away from home for the first time and NOW i'm nearly finished. wow. To say it's gone fast would be an understatement! I really can't believe it. However, I am looking forward to going to Portugal in July so bring on the sun, sea and sand!!

MY...new room. I have been nagging away for the past few months about having my room re-decorated and my nagging must have finally paid off as whilst I was still away at uni my mum decided to re-decorate my room. Result! And I have to say what a great job she did. It was previously pink (i know, hardly a surprise) and now it is cream. I know that my not sound very exciting but this shade of cream does have a certain je ne sais quoi. Basically, it's got a bit of a kick to it. I have a bit of a thing for bedding anyway so in my book, a new room= new bedding so I wasted no time in kickstarting the search! Originally I found a lovely white, flowery set from Cath Kidston but I found the white too harsh against my walls; it made them look a bit...welll...it wasn't a good look! I took it back and immediately found the perfect set from Laura Ashley. The background is just the right shade of cream with large roses in different shades of pink (I couldn't completely ditch the pink!) It suits like a dream and I have to say I don't want to leave my room!

PEDICURES...Just like any other girl, I love getting pampered, and it is not something I do very often at all. However, with the hype surrounding the new craze for fish spas I just had to try it for myself! I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about the whole thing, I wasn't sure if I really wanted these little Garra Rufa Fish nibbling on my toes, but I had been told it was effective so I went for it! The fish don't have any teeth so it's not sore; it just kind of feels like a jacuzzi, with all the bubbles at your feet. As you put your feet in they do of course all swarm to your and go a bit crazy for a minute or two which came much to my mum's surprise who burst out in high pitched squeals, thank goodness the salon was empty! She wasn't such a fan, but I would definitely go again for another treatment. My feet were left feeling refeshed and soft after a 15 minute treatment which cost £12 but I think the 30 minute one at £20 would be more beneficial and would last a bit longer. I will definitely be returning, maybe not with my mum...

THE KIXX... I am absolutely loving new band The Kixx, they have just finished supporting Olly Murs on his recent UK tour. I was lucky enough to get to go and see them at the Hammersmith Apollo and they were brilliant! They have some great tracks and they did such a good job warming up the crowd before the main act. I would definitely go and see them again, I think they would put on a great show of their own. Their debut single 'Already gone' came out on 5th June and is a really great track, which played live was even better! Hopefully we will be hearing lots more from these guys in the future, keep a look out as they are sure to be a great hit!

Olly Murs!!!!

For the past few weeks my poor blog has had to be put to one side whilst university assignments, exams and commitments took over my life! Luckily, I have now finished my second year (which is an extremely scary prospect) and I now have the entire summer to blog away. As it has been so long since I last posted I have a whole number of things to talk about and I know the perfect place to start, with a certain Mr Olly Murs!

Back in November my friend and I booked tickets to go and see Olly Murs at the Hammersmith Apollo in May, and after months of waiting the day had finally arrived and we were beyond excited to say the least! We had a very wet journey to London, with the rain becoming even heavier when we got off the tube at Hammersmith, thunder and lightening included. However, as soaking as we may have been nothing could cloud over our excitement for the concert later all we could think of was OLLY OLLY OLLY.

After a super-sonic meal at Pizza express we literally 'legged' it down the road to the Apollo, joining many other just as excited fans in the queue outside and the even better news...the sun was shining! We got inside and got to our seats eagerly waiting for the show to start. There were two support acts before Olly himself, The Kixx, an male band from Reading and Wonderland an Irish girl group. Both did about four tracks each and really got the crowd going, with The Kixx even doing a meet and greet afterwards, proving to be very lovely indeed!

Then the wait was over and it was time for the main man; the reason we were all here, Olly Murs himself and when he came up those stairs the crowd went absolutely wild (as did we) screaming and chanting through the entire first songfrom the album, 'Change is Gonna Come'. The screaming did not end there either, Olly's dance moves sure made them twice as loud, with him even treating us to a much practised moonwalk across the stage!

He perfomed just about every track off the album as well as a couple of covers which were just as exciting, including an acoustic style cover of Jason Mraz's 'I'm Yours' which of course, had us all screaming the house down once again! With a quick change half way through, it was some very lucky person's turn to get to go up on stage ( this is the point we got very jealous we weren't on the front row) whilst we looked on from our balcony seats, which admittidly we very good; only a couple of rows from the front of the balcony.

He certainly lived up to all my expectations and more, and really put on a fantastic performance. He clearly does have a great voice, with all songs performed (to my ears anyway) perfectly, managing to dance around and play to the crowd whilst doing so. I would definitely go and see him again, it was not just a gig, but a show for all.
